How to Root and Install Custom ROM on Lava Iris 504Q

Lava is an Indian company which is famous for manufacturing full featured handsets at low prices. To add to its smartphone line few Lava launched Iris 504Q few months ago. Lava Iris Q has a 720p screen with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU. Lava Iris 504Q features gesture control (air gestures) which can be used for changing pictures, soundtracks or putting phone to silent.

We will skip the intro and get straightaway to the point.

How to Root the Lava Iris 504Q

  • Back up anything you feel is important.
  • Charge your device at least to 75% before you begin.
  • Install the proper drivers before you start Downloads the drivers from below
  2.        Mobistel_Cynus_T1_Drivers_x86.exe
  • Enable USB Debugging on your device.  To do this, go to Settings > Developer Options and tick the USB Debugging checkbox.
  • Connect your device to your PC using a compatible microUSB cable.
  • Extract to a folder on your desktop.
  • From the extracted folder, double-click on run.bat to start the rooting procedure.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Your Lava Iris 504Q should now be completely rooted, use apps like Root Checker to verify.

Installing Custom Recovery

To install custom ROM the most important ingredient is Custom Rcovery.

To install this you will need

1. Sp Flash Tool
2. Recovery.img
3. MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt (only use this one. it is modified.)

Very Easy & safe way to FLASH CWM RECOVERY Without having PC

  • Downlaod CWM Recovery extract it and copy recovery.img only to root of your SD Cards { i.e. sdcard/recovery.img or sdcard2/recovery.img }
  • Download Mobile Uncle Tools for MTK  and install it as normal apps
  • Now open Mobile Uncle Tools apps you recently installed.
  • Grant Superuser permissions
  • There click on recovery update menu
  • Then click on the recovery image name of ‘ recovery.img ’
  • Let the app install the recovery. after that apps ask you for reboot your device in to recovery?. press yes

Instructions for flashing using SP Flash Tools:

  • Install drivers for your phone.
  • Copy recovery.img and scatter file in new same folder
  • Extract and open the SP Flash Tools.
  • In SP Flash Tools, click on Scatter-Loading and the program will ask you the location of the scatter loading file for your device select mt6589 scatter file.txt
  • Check only recovery.img, uncheck all others. (will be checked auto)
  • Switch off your phone (Remove the battery to make sure it is switched off).
  • Click the Download option (present on the right of Firmware > Upgrade option) and the flash tool will start looking for your phone.
  • Put Battery and Connect USB to your phone now. The Flash Tool will start the flashing process, the progress of which can be viewed from a yellow progress bar at the bottom of the flash tool.
  • Warning 1 – Don’t interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device.
  • Warning 2 – Make sure no power interruption takes place. (Use a laptop to ensure this).
  • After the process completes, a green ring will appear on your device signalling that the process was successful.
  • Disconnect your phone.

Installing Custom ROM

  • First download the Custom ROM Zip file and put it on your mobile SD Card.
  • Now turn off your device and go to CMW Recovery mode by pressing volume Up and Power same time to get in to CWM
  • From CWM recovery mode, first Wipe Data/Factory Reset And Wipe Partition
  • From Advance Menu Do Dalvik Catch Clear
  • From Advance Menu Do Battery State Clear
  • Go in Mount And Storage select FORMAT SYSTEM
  • Select “Install From SD” and Select the downloaded Custom ROM And Click YES
  • Reboot Your System all done!
